Make it, one step at a time.
Choose the route
Use six reachable spots: a bookshelf, shoe area, sofa, dining table, mirror, and pillow. Substitute any location that involves stairs, fragile objects, private rooms, or difficult access.
Prepare the clues
Print the picture cards and cut them apart. The bookshelf card is the starting clue. Put the shoe card at the bookshelf, sofa card at the shoes, table card at the sofa, mirror card at the table, and pillow card at the mirror.
Plan the ending
Put the final congratulations note at the pillow. Choose a shared ending such as drawing a pumpkin together or reading a favorite story. A purchase is not required.
Explain the game
Show the first card. Say: “We are looking together, and we can ask for help.” Walk with the group and let children take turns carrying the next picture.
Adapt as you go
Point to the pictured object for children who do not read yet. Bring clues to a seated participant if moving around is difficult. Keep the pace comfortable and stop whenever the group wants.
The simpler version
Put all six picture cards in one room and ask the group to find a matching object for each.
A little help goes a long way
An adult checks every hiding place and accompanies children. Never hide clues near medicines, sockets, cooking equipment, roads, or climbable furniture.
Before you begin
Do a practice walk before guests arrive. Keep the host route separate so a clue is not accidentally hidden at its own pictured destination.
